TAILORING PROCESS

The Lucky Bespoke Process

Embarking on your first bespoke tailoring experience? Here is a step-by-step guide on what to expect. At Lucky Bespoke Tailors, every garment is expertly designed, cut, and crafted entirely in-house.

Step 1:

Consultation & Fabric Selection

Every exceptional garment begins with an in-depth conversation. During your initial consultation, we dive into the details of your lifestyle, discussing exactly where and how your clothing will be worn, your personal style preferences, and any specific fit concerns you may have. This allows us to guide you seamlessly through our curated collections to select the perfect fabric bunches and design details for your vision. For your ultimate convenience, this meeting can take place at our main showroom, your home, your office, or during one of our regular trunk shows.

Following our discussion, we map out the blueprint of your silhouette by taking approximately 35 precise measurements, along with detailed figuration notes and profile photographs to capture your exact proportions.

Step 2:

Custom Pattern Drafting

Using the detailed details gathered during your consultation, your dedicated cutter constructs a unique, personal paper pattern entirely from scratch.

To ensure absolute consistency, a single master cutter is assigned to you, overseeing the entire creation process from your initial consultation to the final delivery of your garments. Your paper pattern, individual measurements, and order history are meticulously archived and available to view at any subsequent appointment—offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look into the true artistry of bespoke tailoring.

Your cutter works in seamless harmony with our specialist coat makers, trouser makers, and waistcoat makers to bring your exact vision to life.

Step 3:

Hand-Cutting & Bundling

Once your custom paper pattern is perfected, it is meticulously laid onto your chosen cloth and traced by hand using traditional tailoring chalk. Using heavy tailoring shears, your cutter carefully follows these lines to form the individual panels of your garment.

At this stage, the artistry moves below the surface. All internal canvases, pocketing, linings, and fine trimmings are hand-selected and precisely paired with your cloth in the cutting room. This curated collection of elements—known as the "bundle"—is then passed to one of our specialist in-house tailors, who will hand-sew the pieces together into a structured canvas shell, preparing your garment for its very first "baste fitting."

Step 4:

The Baste Fitting

The baste fitting is where your garment truly begins to take shape. During this appointment, you will try on the basted shell of your clothing for the first time. This crucial step allows your dedicated cutter to meticulously analyze the fit, balance, drape, and overall silhouette against your initial measurements. Together, you will review the progress, giving you an early, physical sense of how the finished piece will look and feel.

Every adjustment and chalk mark made during this session is highly deliberate. Following the fitting, the garment is carefully taken apart and flattened once again. Your cutter then uses these real-time adjustments to update your master paper pattern, ensuring your unique blueprint is perfectly refined before moving forward.

Step 5:

Master Hand-Stitching

With your refined pattern as the guide, the garment returns to our workshop to undergo its most labor-intensive transformation. Here, the focus shifts to internal structure and exquisite finishings, as the linings, pockets, and intricate internal details are meticulously sewn by hand.

This delicate work is entrusted entirely to our team of specialist artisan makers. Because true bespoke tailoring requires absolute mastery, each artisan specializes exclusively in a single discipline—whether coat-making, trouser-making, or waistcoat-making—undergoing a rigorous training period of two to six years to perfect their craft. This dedication ensures that every element of your garment is constructed to the highest standard of timeless quality.

Step 6:

The Forward Fitting & Hand-Finishing

As your garment nears completion, you will return for your forward fittings. Trying the clothing on once more allows your cutter to review the final details, making any minute adjustments to ensure absolute perfection. Just as before, any subtle refinements are permanently updated on your master paper pattern, securing your exact fit for all future commissions.

Once the final silhouette is approved, your garment enters its ultimate stage of artistry. Our artisans meticulously stitch the handmade buttonholes, apply a rigorous final hand-press to sculpt the cloth, and sew on the buttons securely by hand—delivering a flawless, masterfully finished masterpiece ready for your wardrobe.

Step 7:

Final Delivery & Your Legacy Pattern

Your bespoke journey is now complete, and your custom garment is ready for collection at our showroom or secure worldwide delivery directly to your doorstep, no matter where you are in the world.

Beyond a flawless new wardrobe piece, you leave this process with a permanent sartorial foundation. We securely archive your unique, two-dimensional master paper pattern. This personalized blueprint remains readily available for all future commissions, allowing us to effortlessly replicate your perfect fit or seamlessly adjust it to accommodate any changes in your silhouette over time.
